Consultation, projects, services
No matter which project or anatomical query it may concern. For your detailed consultation and the optimal implementation of your project our knowledge and extensive experience, as well as an international network of anatomical institutes and specialists stand at your disposal.
Detailed background information about plastination techniques are available in the AHE Special Issue about Plastination. Find examples of specimens done with various techniques > here.
Your plastinate is a lasting and valuable acquisition. Under certain circumstances the value of a plastinate can increase several fold above the preparation costs within a few years. With our service offers we want to support the longevity and recoverability of your plastinate.
A number of the services we offer are:
◊ Sheet-plastinate polishing with Acrylic Protection Layer (APL)
◊ Re-embedding of Sheet-plastinates into APL
◊ Construction of stands and illumination for plastinates
◊ Glass display cabinets/show cases for preparations
◊ Repairs
Care instructions
Plastinates are individual natural preparations. Handling needs to be adapted to the various properties of the plastinate. Please direct any questions to HC Biovision.
Protect your Sheet Plastinate against damaging influences, e.g.
◊ Objects or surfaces that might scratch APL
◊ Knocks or blows, or even falling over, that could e.g. lead to a damaging or detachment of APL
◊ Avoid extreme temperatures
Allow HC Biovision to re-embed your Sheet Plastinate, should e.g. damage during a fall or complete detachment of APL occur.
Sheet plastination
Sheet plastinates are transparent preparations depicting the inner structure of the body. HC Biovision uses the self-developed and patented Tissue Tracing Technique (TTT), allowing visual detail unachievable with any other imaging technique. In TTT sheet plastinates ◊ the specific course of anatomical structures (e.g. nerves, blood vessels etc.) can be studied, ◊ the thickness of the plastinate can be individually adapted to the optical properties of various tissue areas, ◊ a slice thickness of under 0.1mm can be achieved. |
Anatomical corrosion casts (blood vessel configurations)
Casting liquid plastic into a system of hollow cavities creates anatomical preparations, which after setting are separated from the surrounding tissue.
Naturally casts of the vascular system are the most frequent and impressing corrosion preparations.
But also airways, bile ducts, urinary tract system and lymphatic system can be visua-lised. In addition casts of e.g. nasolacrimal ducts or the auditory system in relation to casts of the body surfaces or combined skeleton-vessel-preparation can be created.
HC Biovision is capable of individually adapting the flow and solidifying behaviour of plastics, in order to optimise the portrayal of embedded subtleties (e.g. blood capillaries or endothelium cell nuclei).
S10 silicone figure plastinates
Figure plastinates can be easily handled and viewed from all sides, even though their appearance compares to that of anatomical wet preparations. They feel dry and clean. Thereby the haptic impression developed through touching and feeling the plastinate stands in the forefront. Structures poorly understood from pictures or models, such as heart valves, hollow organs or nervous tissue, are made visible and comprehensible.
Figure plastinates play an important role as auxiliary material in courses and anatomical preparation classes. Clinical examinations, e.g. gastroscopy, can be realistically recreated and stages of preparation demonstrated step by step.
Resin embedded milk tooth
Ethics and philosophy in plastination
In all our projects and especially in the production of teaching preparations our companies philosophy stands in the forefront.
Ethics-Aesthetics- Didactics
1. Ethics: Exclusively harmless animal material is used in the production of preparations at HC Biovision. Origin and condition are controlled and comply with our own, as well as strict legal requirements. Human preparations are only made in line with scientific projects and in cooperation with human medical institutes.
2. Aesthetics: Without deviating from realistic presentation, preparations are created optically appealing. The consistently positive impression an anatomical presentation communicate, embeds itself into the long term memory of the observer and is linked to learned knowledge.
3. Didactics: In an increasing virtual and unreliable world of information, only what is truly comprehended and recognized convinces far more. The plastinate should be taken into the hand and sensed in its entirety – from the general overview to its finest microscopic detail.
Prerequisites consequently are: |
◊ Meaningful subject matter ◊ Appealing optics |
